    TONY'S HITS CHART: 20th JULY 2019

    1 1 Electric Youth - The Life
    YOUTUBE (8 weeks; peak #1)

2 NE Charli XCX and Christine and The Queens - Gone YOUTUBE

She's back! After 4 non-charting singles in a row (including 3 guest spots) Charli returns to my chart. And it's fitting that it's a co-credit as Chris shaped this song so much. I'm not keen on the way the track ends, though. It needs 30 seconds of the main chorus again.

3 2 Bat For Lashes - Kids In The Dark (6 weeks; peak #1)
4 3 Fiona Grey ft Emma Cole - Saviour (6 weeks; peak #3)
    5 4 Rachel K Collier - Dinosaur (7 weeks; peak #1)
    6 5 Ionnalee - Remember The Future (7 weeks; peak #5)
    7 6 Kim Petras - Do Me (8 weeks; peak #1)
    8 7 Caroline Polachek - Door (5 weeks; peak #4)
    9 8 Kate Nash - Body Heat (5 weeks; peak #7)
    10 9 Robyn - Ever Again (5 weeks; peak #9)
11 NE Torche - Admission YOUTUBE

Smooth track from returning rockers. In a shoegaze sense.

    12 10 Kim Petras - Personal Hell (6 weeks; peak #8)
13 11 Florian Picasso ft Echosmith - But Us (5 weeks; peak #11)
    14 12 Rachel K Collier - Tattoo (7 weeks; peak #9)
    15 13 Heaven - Truth Or Dare (2 weeks; peak #13)
16 NE Gemini Rising - After The Rain YOUTUBE

A previous track from singer Fiora and producer Tensnake's synthpop project. They are on Bat For Lashes' Lost Girls Mix playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7G...MQJAGp5e0MjHpi

17 NE Fever Ray - I'm Not Done YOUTUBE (Still Not Done Mix) / YOUTUBE (Live Version Audio)

Updated version(s) of track from debut in the style of the recent tour.

    18 14 Electric Youth - Arawa (2 weeks; peak #14)
    19 15 Millie Turner - Swimming Pool YOUTUBE (5 weeks; peak #11)

20 NE Miranda Lambert - Locomotive YOUTUBE / It All Comes Out In The Wash YOUTUBE
It All... is the "lead" of the 2-track but the rockout Locomotive is better.

    21 16 Kiesza - Sweet Love (5 weeks; peak #15)
    22 19 Marina - Enjoy Your Life (13 weeks; peak #1)
    23 17 Kim Petras - Sweet Spot (10 weeks; peak #2)
    24 18 Eliza (Doolittle) - Wasn't Looking (6 weeks; peak #14)

28 25 Taylor Swift - You Need To Calm Down (6 weeks; peak #16)
    29 27 Perry Farrell - Machine Girl (2 weeks; peak #27)
    30 23 Snow Ghosts - Heavy Heart (6 weeks; peak #14)
    31 24 Spotlights - Mountains Are Forever (2 weeks; peak #24)
    32 34 Banks - Contaminated (2 weeks; PEAK)
    33 26 Daria Zawialow - Szarówka (10 weeks; peak #4)

2 NE Charli XCX and Christine and The Queens - Gone - my immediate reaction was overwhelmingly positive, but the more I listened to it the more it lost some intrinsic value for me
11 NE Torche - Admission - fairly conventional (by shoegazing standards) sound, which is actually great.
16 NE Gemini Rising - After The Rain - slow it down and you'll get that vaporwave sound

12 NE The Chain Gang Of 1974 - From Here Who Knows - cinematic and well-produced
13 NE Bat For Lashes - Feel For You - the background music totally reminded me of European Club Soccer OST (1992 Sega Genesis game I used to play when I was 4 or 5).
Lola Kirke has appeared in my chart once, "Sexy Song" is good enough for a return.
30 NE Avoure - This Time - not bad at all

There's a long history of smut/sex on this chart (including pre 2012). I did video charts where the only commentary on some entries was "legs!" and the main criteria was hot women. The only reason i charted Katy Perry's Bon Appetit and Little Mix's Bounce Back is because i don't do a current video chart.

So... no comments on Taylor, Caroline, Ghum. Am i ever getting one for Fiona Grey's brilliant dramatic pop song?

Taylor's song is better than Me! far worse than Calm Down.

I actually checked Caroline because I thought she's Polish (at least she's Polish sounding name and surname). Anyway, I don't remember actually what song I've listened to, but I liked it, she's far worse than Freya (why not charting her album :()

I've lost an interest in Bar For Lashes sadly :/

"The Archer" is pretty good. (It would probably be insta-top 10 on my chart if she was singing in Russian.)

I actually tried to find out if this is the first time Taylor is #1 on your chart, but the search function sucks on this new and "improved" UKMix so I gave up.

EDIT: Looks like "Reputation" went #1 before. And "Shake It Off!" and "Gorgeous" #2. How about pre-2012?

EDIT 2: But wait, there's no song called "Reputation", is there? Must have been the album, although I found it twice.

Just happens i've been checking on some number one stats (not as easy to do on the vBulletin style forums).
Taylor Swift just got her fourth number one on my chart. Eyes Open, Style, Out Of The Woods, The Archer.

Bat For Lashes - 6 number ones on my chart. Prescilla, What's A Girl To Do?, Daniel, Pearl's Dream, Marilyn, Kids In The Dark. (7-year gap between the last 2!)

I also missed the fact that Marina had her tenth number one with Enjoy Your Life. The rest: Oh No!, Shampain, Homewrecker, Power and Control, The State Of Dreaming, Lies, Immortal, Handmade Heaven, Superstar.

I'll come back with a Charli total when she gets her next chart-topper.

Ah, stupid me, I only checked the new entries... So at least it's the first time she enters at #1! ("Style" chart run 15-14-25-30-1 (first five weeks), wow! I should have remembered that.)

Caroline was in Chairlift who i've charted a lot.
I don't like Freya's bland coffee table music that is overplayed in the UK. I have no interest in hearing a full album. She's like a marketing man's version of Florence.
Made famous over here for the TV show Love Island and advertised aggressively on TV every 20 minutes ever since THAT song broke.
I like her dad Richard (famous actor).

I'm much more excited about Ellie Goulding's replacement (in my eyes) Rachel K Collier. Who you heard on my Spotify chart playlist (must do an update of that)

Oh. Good spot! Eyes Open jumped 12-1 and Out Of The Woods re-entered at #1 upon the video (after Ryan Adams' cover had already hit the top).

On Rachel K Collier - I like her Tattoo song, haven't heard much from her actually. Interesting voice, true. I don't find much in common with Ellie...

On Freya - her songs were slow burners (took them like 100 weeks to chart at all) so I don't think it was because that Love Island thing (I can be wrong because I don't even know what this show is about). I like her mostly because she's like a replacement for Florence (whose last album was dull)

Four is a nice number of Taylor #1s. Only "Out of the Woods" did it on both our charts. (My other three are "Fearless", "Come Back, Be Here" and "Sweeter Than Fiction".)

Lost Without You became a hit because it was used in Love Island. Since then that style of "woe-is-me" piano ballad has dominated the show (that i actively avoid) and iTunes - see Joel Corry's Sorry.

    @heppolo

Video is here. The guitar and intensity on this is just great. Top 5 possibility.

^yeah, I've just seen the music video accidentally, the vibe is here, my only slight complaint is that the song could have been half a minute shorter. Other than that, it's all good.

You already know Rezz, don't you? Deadmau5's female equivalent (who recently started showing her face for the first time).
    Hatchie's album is great...
