15 NE The Hu - Shoog Shoog - I actually love their songs, most of their "singles" has already been in my chart
25 NE Caroline Polachek - So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings - interesting, I don't get enough vibe from her
    ALBUMS
16 NE Sam Fender - Hypersonic Missiles - neither too good, nor too bad in the songwriting department. But the production is slick

Yeah, Hep. Shoog Shoog doesn't have a video, sadly. Did you chart it?

Obviously loving all the Charli XCX and Taylor entries here!

Also glad to see Marina Kaye and Tove Lo's new singles debuting. The former has been a reliable hit maker for me, though "Twisted" isn't as strong as most of her previous stuff. Meanwhile, "Sweettalk My Heart" is the first single of Tove's new album that really hits me. With that being said, the other singles all belong to my least favorite songs on "Sunshine Kitty" which turned out better than expected...

    TONY'S HITS CHART: 28th SEPTEMBER 2019

    1 2 Charli XCX - White Mercedes
    YOUTUBE (2 weeks; PEAK)
Her 6th number one and 2nd involving cars!

2 1 Charli XCX ft Sky Ferreira - Cross You Out (7 weeks; peak #1)
    3 3 Bat For Lashes - The Hunger (8 weeks; peak #1)
4 15 The Hu - Shoog Shoog (2 weeks; PEAK)

Shoog Shooooog! This should be as big as Gangnam Style. Lyrics translated in video.

5 NE David Hasselhoff - Head On YOUTUBE

The Hoff covers The Jesus and Mary Chain! His 3rd and biggest hit on my chart. This grat is better than the album's lead single Open Your Eyes (both it and Lords Of The New Church original are a bit naff). The album will (probably) chart next week.

    6 4 Bat For Lashes - Jasmine (6 weeks; peak #2)
    7 7 Cigarettes After Sex - Heavenly (5 weeks; peak #2)
    8 5 Bat For Lashes - Desert Man (4 weeks; peak #3)
    9 6 Taylor Swift - Lover (7 weeks; peak #1)
    10 21 Mandy Moore - When I Wasn't Watching (2 weeks; PEAK)

11 17 Cigarettes After Sex - Each Time You Fall In Love (3 weeks; PEAK)
    12 9 Kitten - Memphis / Goodbye, Honeymoon Phase (7 weeks; peak #1)
    13 14 Anavae - Not Enough (3 weeks; peak #13)
14 NE Allie X - Fresh Laundry YOUTUBE

    She's back, Lovers!

15 8 Bat For Lashes - Kids In The Dark (16 weeks; peak #1)
16 NE Lily Kershaw - Always and Forever YOUTUBE
Lush ballad co-written with actress Emma Roberts.

17 22 Millie Turner - Ride This Train (2 weeks; PEAK)
18 24 Korn - Can You Hear Me? (2 weeks; PEAK)
    19 12 Alexandra Savior - Saving Grace (3 weeks; peak #7)
20 10 Charli XCX and Christine and The Queens - Gone (11 weeks; peak #2)
    21 13 Taylor Swift - The Archer (10 weeks; peak #1)
    22 11 Charli XCX ft Haim - Warm (5 weeks; peak #11)
    23 16 Miley Cyrus - Slide Away (7 weeks; peak #5)
Andrew Wyatt is involved in both Liam Gallagher albums. Did he pinch the song title for this?

    24 18 Metronomy - Wedding Bells (3 weeks; peak #12)
25 20 Bombay Bicycle Club - Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You) (5 weeks; peak #9)
    26 31 Marina Kaye - Twisted (2 weeks; PEAK)
    27 23 Ladytron - Deadzone (2 weeks; peak #23)
28 NE Tessa Violet - Games YOUTUBE
29 NE White Lies - Hurt My Heart YOUTUBE
A brand new song that is better than most of the last album.

    30 19 Charli XCX ft Troye Sivan - 2099 (3 weeks; peak #19)
31 NE Celine Dion - Imperfections YOUTUBE
I'm not saying it's on the level of Johnny Cash's Hurt video but you have to admire her openness here and the song is quite contemporary.

32 NE Janet Devlin - Confessional YOUTUBE
I really want to like this more but it's hard to escape the feeling of heard-it-before via Rag'N'Bone Man, Ella Henderson etc.

33 25 Caroline Polachek - So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings (2 weeks; peak #25)
34 NE R + (Rollo) and Dido - Those Were The Days YOUTUBE
One of three singles from Rollo's collaborative project featuring his sister and also Sister Bliss. Called R + on the artwork but R Plus on listings.

35 29 Winona Oak - Break My Broken Heart (8 weeks; peak #6)
    36 33 Tove Lo - Sweettalk My Heart (2 weeks; peak #33)
    37 36 Kate Lomas - Happy Like This (3 weeks; peak #28)
38 28 Bat For Lashes - Feel For You (10 weeks; peak #13)

    41 30 Pumarosa - Heaven (3 weeks; peak #21)

    44 35 Louis Tomlinson - Kill My Mind (3 weeks; peak #23)
45 38 Fiona Grey ft Emma Cole - Saviour (16 weeks; peak #3)
    46 39 Chloe Lilac - Manic Pixie Dream (8 weeks; peak #12)
47 40 Hannah Diamond and Danny L Harle - Part Of Me (2 weeks; peak #40)
    48 41 Electric Youth - The Life (18 weeks; peak #1)
49 42 Veronica Maggio - Fiender är Tråkigt (Enemies Are Boring) (4 weeks; peak #23)
50 NE Echosmith - Lonely Generation YOUTUBE

    -------------------------------------------

    TONY'S ALBUMS CHART: 28th SEPTEMBER 2019

1 1 Bat For Lashes - Lost Girls
    (3 weeks; peak #1)
    2 2 Charli XCX - Charli (2 weeks; peak #2)

    3 3 Taylor Swift - Lover (5 weeks; peak #1)
4 4 Cigarettes After Sex - Cigarettes After Sex (3 weeks; peak #3)
5 NE Tove Lo - Sunshine Kitty SPOTIFY
6 5 Le Cygne Noir - Shadow Of A Wrecking Ball (2 weeks; peak #5)
7 NE Keep Shelly In Athens - 9 Years (MA) SPOTIFY
    8 NE Blink-182 - Nine SPOTIFY
    9 NE M83 - DSVII SPOTIFY
    10 6 Tool - Fear Inoculum (4 weeks; peak #2)
    11 7 Korn - The Nothing (2 weeks; peak #7)
12 NE A Giant Dog - Neon Bible SPOTIFY
Female fronted indie band covers Arcade Fire.

    13 8 Metronomy - Metronomy Forever (2 weeks; peak #8)
14 NE Liam Gallagher - Why Me? Why Not. SPOTIFY
Greg Kurstin and Andrew Wyatt are the helping hands on Miley's... sorry, Liam's fair effort. He gets called a rocker and she doesn't, there's no real difference.

    15 9 The Hu - The Gereg (2 weeks; peak #9)
16 NE Ludovico Einaudi - Seven Days Walking: Day Seven SPOTIFY
I don't think any other artist has charted with seven variations of the same set. Nerina Pallot charted 12 mini-albums in one year, of course.

17 NE Monolord - No Comfort SPOTIFY
    Doom / sludge metal.

18 NE Echo Collective - Johann Johannsson: 12 Conversations with Thilo Heinzmann SPOTIFY
    19 10 Eskmo - 13 Reasons Why: Season 3 (OTVST - Score) (5 weeks; peak #2)
    20 21 Marina - Love and Fear (25 weeks; peak #1)

10 21 Mandy Moore - When I Wasn't Watching - it's alright, but there's a little bit of melody missing to make this even better
28 NE Tessa Violet - Games - she's trying, yet it's kinda basic
34 NE R + (Rollo) and Dido - Those Were The Days - Dido's vocal still manages to put me to sleep even in this particular song
    ALBUMS
12 NE A Giant Dog - Neon Bible - a miss (I am not really a fan of Arcade Fire as well)

You purposely avoiding The Hoff? It's made with "real" rock musicians (Eliot Easton from The Cars on this one). The album is on Cleopatra records (i'm subscribed to their YT channel) who are known for their various (and variable) cover version releases.

Didn't even comment on Liam's album.

The Hoff's alright, but I expected something goofier from him.

    EDIT: Pointless waffle.

I also noticed that The Verve did a song called Slide Away in 93. Did Oasis steal the title in the first place?

I didn't really have time to listen to it in full (only bits and pieces aka singles and live versions), so I can't say much yet. I guess the Liam's way of singing (aka poppy Johnny Rotten) is enough to consider him "rock" (and the conservative preference of live drums over the drum machine and keyboard sounds).

Great title, poppy enough to cross over. US alt radio hit.

26 NE Skemer - Sunseeker YOUTUBE
European darkwave fronted by model Kim Seers.

    27 19 Alexandra Savior - Saving Grace (4 weeks; peak #7)
28 RE Alessandro Cortini - Batticuore (5 weeks; peak #19)

First one i've liked from playlisted alt-popper. Reminds me of early "goth" Charli.

    30 29 White Lies - Hurt My Heart (2 weeks; peak #29)
31 NE Wildwood Kin - Time Has Come YOUTUBE
First one i've liked from playlisted folk group - more like the darker Smoke Fairies.

32 25 Bombay Bicycle Club - Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You) (6 weeks; peak #9)
    33 21 Taylor Swift - The Archer (11 weeks; peak #1)

    -------------------------------------------

    TONY'S ALBUMS CHART: 5th OCTOBER 2019

1 1 Bat For Lashes - Lost Girls
    (4 weeks; peak #1)
2 NE Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - Ghosteen SPOTIFY

This ambient mood of an album had a YouTube premiere at 10pm Thursday UK time but also seems to have been released before midnight despite Oct 4th official release date. It may climb next week.

    3 3 Taylor Swift - Lover (6 weeks; peak #1)
4 NE Alessandro Cortini - Volume Massimo SPOTIFY
5 NE Michaela Anne - Desert Dove SPOTIFY
Country fans should check her out.

    6 2 Charli XCX - Charli (3 weeks; peak #2)
7 NE Kim Petras - Turn Off The Light SPOTIFY
So she decided to combine both Halloween mixtapes into one full length. Wasn't a big fan of vol 1 but the new tracks here are better, with There Will Be Blood being a clear highlight.

8 4 Cigarettes After Sex - Cigarettes After Sex (4 weeks; peak #3)
9 NE The New Pornographers - In The Morse Code Of Brake Lights SPOTIFY
10 NE Tegan and Sara - Hey, I'm Just Like You SPOTIFY

12 NE Skint and Demoralised - We Are Humans SPOTIFY
13 NE Chromatics - Closer To Grey SPOTIFY
Dear Tommy is still not ready so they gave us this relatively underwhelming set midweek. Contains 2 great tracks Whispers In The Hall and The JAM Chain cover On The Wall. Coincidentally, someone else is JAMing...

14 NE David Hasselhoff - Open Your Eyes SPOTIFY
Cleopatra label gets him to do half an album of WTF? alternative covers (Bunnymen, Chain, Bowie, Lords, Modern English) with numerous noted rock/pop musicians and then lets him do Whitesnake and The Archies (AVOID BOTH!!) before Ministry(!!) does a mad mix job on one of his 2 Glen Campbell covers.

    15 5 Tove Lo - Sunshine Kitty (2 weeks; peak #5)
16 NE Trentemoller - Obverse SPOTIFY
17 NE Kalie Shorr - Open Book SPOTIFY
Country filtered through early Liz Phair angst-rock.

18 NE KMFDM - Paradise SPOTIFY
19 NE HellYeah - Welcome Home SPOTIFY
    20 10 Tool - Fear Inoculum (5 weeks; peak #2)

I prefer her group Mountain Man.

    24 NE Alev Lenz - 3 SPOTIFY
    25 7 Keep Shelly In Athens - 9 Years (MA) (2 weeks; peak #7)
26 NE Opeth - In Cauda Venenum SPOTIFY
    27 8 Blink-182 - Nine (2 weeks; peak #8)

23 NE Icarus ft Rae Morris - Dreams Of You
I am not really a fan of trance...Rae's voice here reminds me of Emma Louise in Wankelmut's "My Head Is A Jungle" remix.

I enjoyed this, thank you for featuring this gem.

16 in a crowded week is quite good. I'm not a follower of him, anyway. It looks worse that Opeth (passable prog metal) and Steel Panther (really existing on the small amounts of musical flourishes that outbalance the tired jokes) are so low. Plus KMFDM being consistently less great with their female vocalist that joined them recently and their tendency towards "pop".

    The following failed to chart:
The Comet Is Coming - The Afterlife (MA)
    Dragonforce - Extreme Power Metal
The Monochrome Set - Fabula Mendax
Show Of Hands - Battlefield Dance Floor

I'll just leave this here (wait till it gets to the chorus!)

If only his other collaborators had such mischief in mind

    • OoOh, this recent "White Mercedes" domination is perfectly timed with its video release! I also appreciate that you highlighted "I Don't Wanna Know" on your albums chart last week.
    • Nice new peak for Mandy! A new (non-soundtrack) single from her in 2019 was a very pleasant surprise, given that Amanda Leigh is over 10 years old now.
    • Usually I'd be more disappointed about Allie falling short of the Top 10, but I've been underwhelmed by "Fresh Laundry" too. The video's definitely intriguing, and the creepiness of it (especially those doll/mannequin scenes) makes it fitting with Halloween on the horizon.
    • That's a promising leap for "Imperfections." I don't follow Celine's career super closely, so I owe Akini's chart for bringing that one to my attention.

    Yet another luxurious chart, Blondini!

Yes, she posted pics of her filming the video so that's how i knew it was coming. Didn't know exactly when of course, but thankfully it's when she's top. Cheers.

Great #1. Somehow I always saw "White Mercedes" more like an album filler previously but I just listened to "Charli" again like an hour ago and "White Mercedes" stood out to me this time!

Also nice to see Adam Lambert's new EP just sneaking into your album charts, though he could do so much better (especially with the voice he's got!).
