thanks so much for all comments

    week 44/2015 – 29 october 2015 Hello, i Used To Love You

    • Singles Top40

While the competition on top of the charts was very weak last week, there are two new entries in the Top2 now. And even if Gwen Stefani enters the charts at #2 with her new single “Used To Love You”, she stood absolutely no chance against the biggest comeback of the year. British singer songwriter Adele released the lead single of her upcoming album “25”, called “Hello”, last friday, and makes a not really surprising debut at #1. It’s only her fifth entry on my singles charts, following the singles from her second album “21” called “Rolling In The Deep” (#6, 21 weeks), “Someone Like You” (#1, 45 weeks), “Set Fire To The Rain” (#1, 19 weeks) and “Rumour Has It” (#8, 5 weeks). It will be interesting to see how “25” will do, because while “21” showed amazing longevity by staying on the album charts for 47 weeks, it ‘only’ peaked at #2. But it peaked at #2 for 12 non-consecutive weeks, making her the probably most unluckiest artist on my charts so far.

There are another two new entries and one re-entry in the Top40. Justin Bieber just released his single “Sorry” on friday and enters the charts at #18 – exactly ten positions lower than the peak of the previous single “What Do You Mean?”. Pentatonix can celebrate an entry as well, as “Can’t Sleep Love” debuts at #37. It’s a single from their new self-titled album, which just debuted atop of the US Billboard Top200. Last but not least, Carrie Underwood returns to the charts at #20 with “Smoke Break”, which benefits from the album release of her fifth studio album “Storyteller”.

Selena Gomez continues to rise back up with “Good For You”, as it spends another week in the Top3 this time (4-3), and her current single “Same Old Love” is doing well too (5-6). “Same Old Love” also gets certified with Gold this week. Meanwhile, Zara Larsson loses some steam with her singles “Lush Life” (1-4) and “Never Forget You” (2-5). Jasmine Thompson drops 3-8 with “Great Escape”, followed by Blackmore’s Night who are down 7-9 with “Will O’ The Wisp”. The last two songs in the Top10 are two songs that never reached the Top10, by artists who never had a previous entry featuring artists who already had Top10 entries. Charlie Puth’s debut hit “Marvin Gaye” now becomes his first Top10 entry by climbing 12-7, and it features Meghan Trainor who already scored a Top10 entry with “Lips Are Movin’”. The other song is called “Magnets” and belongs to Disclosure, who never had a hit before, and is sung by Lorde, who already scored two #9-peaking singles with “Royals” and “Team”. “Magnets” doesn’t outpeak them though, as it’s up 13-10.

While Selena is still doing very well with her two singles, the promo track “Me & The Rhythm” has to leave the Top10 after three weeks by falling 6-11. Lana Del Rey leaves that part of the charts as well, but with a bigger drop as “Music To Watch Boys To” falls 8-14. Other than that, there aren’t that many interesing movements except the normal up’s an down’s.

Demi Lovato’s “Confident” rises 38-32 as the biggest climber, while Blackmore’s Night’s “All Our Yesterdays” falls 23-36 as the biggest loser this week.

    • Album Top20

What a fight! While Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato fought about the top spot last week, they still fought for it this week as well, but there’s also a new entry who fought with them too. At first it looked like Selena would spend a third week at number one with “Revival”, then it was Demi who took the lead over the weekend and in the end it was Carrie’s new studio album which suddenly took the lead... but in the end, the number one goes to Demi Lovato. The former disney star moves 2-1 with “Confident”, which now becomes her very first number one album. The gap to the number two wasn’t that big though, and there’s Carrie Underwood with her new studio album “Storyteller”. Carrie started the week out of competition, but now she nearly got her first top album as well. There’s still a chance she might get it in a week, as there are no big new releases this week, and both of Carrie’s previous entries peaked in their second week on the charts. Finally, Selena falls 1-3 with “Revival” after two weeks on top. That’s two weeks less than “Kiss & Tell” did, her studio album with the least amount of weeks at #1 so far.

A second new entry makes the charts this week, and it’s something rare. Artists from my own country are very rare on my charts, but every now and then there’s an appearance for one of them. Jaël was the frontwoman of the swiss pop band Lunik, which was one of the most successful bands in Switzerland until they disbanded in 2013. Jaël decided to continue with making music and released her solo debut called “Shuffle The Cards” last friday, which caught my attention due to its bright and colourful album cover. It contains some sweet and soft pop songs and definitely caught me by surprise, and it enters the charts at #4 now.

Blackmore’s Night’s “All Our Yesterdays” slips 4-5. It already spends its sixth week in the Top5 and gets certified with Gold this week. Pentatonix fall 3-6 with their self-titled album, followed by Lena whose back up 11-7 with “Crystal Sky” due to the new re-release. The Weeknd’s “Beauty Behind The Madness” drops 5-8, Jasmine Thompson’s “Adore EP” is down 7-9 and Lana Del Rey closes the Top10 with her newely gold-certified “Honeymoon” (6-10).

There are three big drops on this weeks charts. Jess Glynne tumbles 8-17 with her debut record “I Cry When I Laugh”, Janet Jackson falls 10-19 with “Unbreakable” and Hurts are down 12-20 with their third album “Surrender”. There are also two re-entries on the charts. Due to her new album “Storyteller”, Carrie Underwood’s “Greatest Hits: Decade #1” comes back at #16 and gets certified with Gold this week. One of the most successful album of the year also climbs back as Nightwish return with “Endless Forms Most Beautiful” at #18.

    • Airplay Top10

Selena, who ruled the airplay charts the last two weeks, loses most of her entries this week. Only the album track “Kill Em With Kindness” (2-9) and “Good For You” (3-10) remains in the Top10. But songs like “Same Old Love” (27 plays) and “Survivors” (23 plays) still got played quite often.

To my own surprise, it’s still Demi Lovato’s “Kingdom Come” which is the most played song of the week, but with 57 plays it got nearly hundred plays less than a week ago. The expected number one “Hello” by Adele got only one play less and debuts at #2, with Carrie Underwood closing the Top3 with the album track “Clock Don’t Stop” which got played 50 times.

Demi Lovato gets some more entries from her current top album. “Waitin For You” is new at #4, “Wildfire” comes in at #5 and “For You” debuts at #8. Carrie Underwood also gets a second entry from her new album, as the album track “Church Bells” is new at #6. The last entry in the Top10 belongs to german pop singer Lena, who just re-released her hit album “Crystal Sky”. “Back In Time” is one of two new songs and got played 37 times, which is enough for a #7-entry.

The last thing worth a mention is about Gwen Stefani’s new single “Used To Love You”. The song got played 22 times over the last seven days, which is not enough to make an entry on the Airplay Top10. But it’s the fourth most played single of the week behind Adele’s “Hello” and Selena’s singles “Good For You” and “Same Old Love”.

Plays of the Top10 went down by 129 to 410 (-23.9%) compared to last week.

    your top 3 are amazing!
Adele is just ... Adele, what more can I say?
Gwen is back on form with Used To Love You and I'm so happy it's enteted so high on your chart
    GFY is just a monster

albums wise, I'm happy Demi got that #1, wasn't too sure on Confident to begin with but its really grown on me! Tbh Carrie's album is kinda a disappointment but I love her so I'm glad she's done well on your chart too!

Great to see Adele at #1
Nice to see Smoke Break re-enter and to see Storyteller at #2 on your album chart.
I'm also glad to see a couple of Carrie's songs on your AirPlay chart, Church Bells especially.

I don't have to write it but your number-one is flawless. Amazing vocals like usual. I didn't expect her comeback single to be a ballad, though. Wise choice!

I love the new update for "Good For You". It needs to stay there! I want to see it inside your top5 of your year-end charts!
When it comes to Selegend Godmez's other single... "Same Old Love" should have stayed insde the top5 ;) - But I love to see it being certified gold already!

Although I love "What Do You Mean?", I think that "Sorry" is quite basic. A #18 debut is justified but I wouldn't mind it being not a huge hit here. He can do better.

Also, the update for "Confident" is great. I am shocked at it peaked at #16. It's so energetic. Please don't let the horrible music video influence your stance on this Max Martin-esque cheese(y)-popfest <3

"Élan"'s chart-run is insane - The other day I was in NW mood again and I tried to listen to "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" again. I still haven't got into that album and to be honest, I am not excited about the upcoming concert at all which is a shame... I need another "Once" or "Dark Passion Play". Their songs are getting too long and too folk in my opinion. However, "Élan" is still a good track but in my opinion, it doesn't have a single chance in getting into my favourite NW singles club

Demi's album being #1! Yes, she made it!!! I simply love it! Good choice!

Actually like Adele's new song even though I hate to admit it. I've always hated her music

Love Gwen but I just can't seem to get into her new one which is a shame. Still excited for her album though

    Disappointing debut for 'Sorry' :(

    GFY is just a monster

albums wise, I'm happy Demi got that #1, wasn't too sure on Confident to begin with but its really grown on me! Tbh Carrie's album is kinda a disappointment but I love her so I'm glad she's done well on your chart too!
Glad you think so! Especially about Gwen, who deserves so much more success than what she gets!

Same with me when it comes to "Confident". It grew on me a lot during the 2nd week. Carrie's album grew on me as well after some spins, so i hope it will be the same for you

I'm also glad to see a couple of Carrie's songs on your AirPlay chart, Church Bells especially.
Glad you like all these entries
Carrie's new album is really good and i hope she can be successful with it

Glad you like Adele's new single as well
When it comes to "Good For You", i guess it will start dropping again now. The 'album release' effect is over, and i deleted it from my gym playlist as well now so i barely listen to it. Same for SOL...
Also good to see you think so too when it comes to Justin's new single. I'm still excited for the album though, as "Believe" had some amazing pop songs.

I really disliked "Confident" at first, but it's growing on me now. I guess it will climb even further next week...
Good to hear you like the chartrun for "Élan" It's a shame you never got into the album that much. When will you attend their concert? I'm going to see them on the 28th november and i can't freaking wait btw i love the folk influence
Last but not least, glad you like the current top album

Oh that's interesting to hear. I think "Someone Like You" and "Rolling In The Deep" are classics

Glad you love her, and i hope you start to get into "Used To Love You" as well. I was listening to some of her older tracks this week (like "Wind It Up" or "What You Waiting For") and her first two albums were soooooo good. I really hope she finally releases a third one next year!

Not sure how this will do. I'm not that into that track right now sorry :(

There's a big chance to be honest as it's the album i'm playing the most right now... (but it's still friday so everything can change of course...)
Well, i think it's one of her weaker singles so far

    ...and here is my comment.

    1 (NEW) Adele – Hello
    Chart Run: *1*- / 1w

LOVE!!! Like i posted in luckyONE's chart i'm so happy that Adele has comeback with such a strong single. I guess now it's gonna be more interesting to see how well this holds up or will people get bored of the song quickly. I know i won't get bored of Hello, for me its a classic song.

2 (NEW) Gwen Stefani – Used To Love You
    Chart Run: *2*- / 1w

As i posted in my chart thread, i really like Used to love you but because of the timing of its release it went up against Troye Sivan and KDA so was never gonna be #1 in my chart...and then Adele came along and made it even more difficult for anyone else to be #1.

5 (2) Zara Larsson & MNEK – Never Forget You
    Chart Run: 4-*1*-2-5- / 4w

So i watched the video to this yesterday and i still think its a good song. It didn't really make me love the song any more but i think had it just been Zara singing the song by herself, i think i might've liked this song more. That's the pop music fan in me talking.

7 (12) Charlie Puth feat. Meghan Trainor – Marvin Gaye
    Chart Run: 15-14-14-12-*7*- / 5w

I'm amazed at how well this is doing for you now. I still think its one of the catchiest songs of the year and was a deserving #1 in my chart during the summer.

18 (NEW) Justin Bieber – Sorry
    Chart Run: *18*- / 1w

I wasn't sure how high this would enter your chart as i know you prefer What do you mean?. Strangely i think this is a better song but overall its Where are you now? that remains my fave of the Justin Bieber songs released this year.

    Anyways, enjoy your holiday Tansike.

Your #1 is so epic. I tend to think Adele's music is generally overrated, but this one is deserving of all its success. That chorus does something to me.

I checked out "Lush Life" and it was okay; I wasn't wowed or anything, but it was replayable.

Enjoy your vacation! With our job, you need at least one solid vacation annually to remain sane.

These are great! YES for the Used To Love You loving! That and Good For You are a couple of my favourite Pop songs this year. Love them.

Why is that Hailee Steinfeld song not no.1 everywhere yet???? I don't understand!

The Miley song is doing great on your chart! Nice to see. I was thinking I was the only one on here that loved it.

Have a great vacation my dear

Interesting how we both have the same opinion on Adele's music - I like "Rolling In The Deep", but I love "Someone Like You" and especially "Set Fire To The Rain".

I really have to try to get more into that new Gwen song! I really loved "Baby Don't Lie". It was simply a great pop song.

Amazing to see that Demi can still get that #1 record

Damn I love "Kingdom Come" so much

I am really glad that I like Adele's new song... I have never been a fan of hers and I still think that she's slightly overrated in terms of legacy but her vocal performance is clearly on point on her new track. Cannot wait to listen to her album.

As long as "Good For You" stays in your charts for the rest of the year, I don't mind it beind dropped A BIT! Hopefully, some dates announcement for a European tour will bring your love back.

I have already read that "Sorry" by Justin has improved on you. So I expect it to rise next week. However, I still think it's a lackluster compared to his previous single.

In 2 weeks, I will attend their concert. So I guess I will see them first. I just hope that they will play a lot of their older stuff!

    1 (NEW) Adele – Hello
2 (NEW) Gwen Stefani – Used To Love You
    3 (4) Selena Gomez – Good For You *P*
    6 (5) Selena Gomez – Same Old Love *G*

    12 (10) Hailee Steinfeld – Love Myself
    13 (16) Foxes – Better Love
16 (11) Jasmine Thompson – Do It Now

    23 (19) Jasmine Thompson – Adore *P*

    31 (22) Loreen – I’m In It With You *G*
    34 (37) Nightwish – Élan *2xP*

I like these. The top 2 songs are far from amazing, but at least I like "Hello" more than any previous song by Adele (she has so far never charted on my chart).

Great to see Carrie Underwood's album enter at #2 on the albums chart. Any chance she might beat Demi next week? Also great to see in the discography that "Little Toy Guns" reached #3 earlier this year (don't think I noticed that before), but it fell off the chart way too soon...

Have a great vacation! (It's only the posting of your chart that may take a break and not the actual chart, right?)

Thank you all for the comments & the wishes

I still have internet connection as i bought a sim card (i'm too obsessed with ukmix, charts & co. to live without it for two weeks ). But i only have my iphone, so typing the whole charts with that is kinda impossible and would take way too much time. I'll still post a short update with the Top5 and all new entries and re-entries, as i still compile the charts. The full updates will follow after my vacation

I'll also make a reply to your replies after my vacation.

Again, thank you all for always taking your time to make a reply. Love you all
