Just finished season 4 on Netflix after not seeing it since it aired... and it's so funny how much so many things have changed just a little over a decade... regarding same sex marriage and everything. It really is nice to realize how much better things are for us that were only a pipe dream when this show was on.

I hope we get the reunion season 6 that has been buzzed about lately, as Gale Harold, Hal Sparks, Peter Paige, Scott Lowell, and Randy Harrison have all said recently they would love to revisit the characters and where they would be at this point in time. So pretty much all of the main cast has said they would love to go back and do it again. Really, who wouldn't love to see Justin being the same age Brian was, and the vain Brian having to come to terms being middle aged, and the children now being tweens, etc...

And how nice it was to see a really young Stephen Amell (the hunk from Arrow) as the spin cycle instructor for a couple episodes.

‘Queer as Folk’ Reboot in Development at Bravo

In a competitive situation, Bravo is developing a new version of “Queer as Folk,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Russell T. Davies, the creator of the original UK series, is onboard the new project as an executive producer. Stephen Dunn is attached to write, direct, and executive produce. Nicola Shindler of Red Productions, who executive produced the original show, will also executive produce along with Lee Eisenberg of Quantity Entertainment. Digital Rights Group (DRG), an NENT Studios company, will also produce. DRG also distributes the format. Emily Brecht of Quantity is co-executive producing. Universal Cable Productions (UCP) is the studio.

The original “Queer as Folk” ran for 10 episodes between 1999 and 2000 in the UK. It starred Aidan Gillen, Charlie Hunnam, and Craig Kelly as three gay men living in Manchester. A North American remake was then launched in 2000 on the Canadian cable channel Showcase and the American channel Showtime. That series, set in Pittsburgh, ran for five seasons and starred Gale Harold, Randy Harrison, Hal Sparks, Peter Paige, and Scott Lowell.

The new version of the show will feature entirely new characters in a new setting. It is described as a modern take on the original British series that centers on a group of club-going friends who find support in the gay community following a tragedy.

In addition to creating “Queer as Folk,” Davies recently served as writer and executive producer on the BBC-Amazon miniseries “A Very English Scandal” starring Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw. The show received three Golden Globe nominations, including best limited series.

Dunn is repped by WME, Mosaic, and Hansen Jacobson. Davies and Shindler are repped by WME, with Davies also being repped by The Agency in the UK. Eisenberg is repped by WME, Mosaic, and Sloane Offer.

Bravo most recently launched the UCP-produced scripted series “Dirty John” starring Connie Britton and Eric Bana, based on the articles and true crime podcast of the same name. The third episode of the show, which aired last week, became the highest-rated scripted telecast in network history when delayed viewing was added. The show has also risen over 100% in Live+3 in all key demos for back-to-back weeks.

The NBCUniversal cable network also airs a range of unscripted programming, including “Top Chef,” “Vanderpump Rules,” “Below Deck,” “Southern Charm,” and the “Million Dollar Listing” and “Real Housewives” franchises.

Pete, could you please add 'Queer As Folk' to the TV Show Index?

I am definitely here for a reboot. We can never have enough LGBT+ content on TV.

Did anybody else watch the cast reunion chat from a few months back?

I'm more than 10 years removed from when I first stumbled across Queer as Folk USA and still to this day, I am unable to watch the final episode - I think eventually, I will bring myself to watch it. But the series was such an integral part of my life as a younger, gay man and it helped me come to terms with so many different things, that the idea of finality somehow fills me with dread.

It's absurd really, as I know much of what happens in the final series - but I can't watch it. Maybe if they reboot it, I'll have to watch it.

I remember the first time I stumbled on the first episode on TV.
I thought I had finally found gay porn

I could never relate to this series as it mostly took place in clubs, darkrooms or public toilets.

However, the doctor in Season 1 was gorgeous.

I’ll do a big update in a couple of days. Must’ve missed it on my original post.

Bravo is a much more conservative channel than Showtime so I can’t imagine the sex scenes being on the same level.

Just finished the UK version streaming on Stan. Since it dosent have its own topic just put it here.

I had seen bits of it before (particularly Stuarts coming out scene), can also see the bits they used in what Ive seen of the US version.

I kinda felt for Vince, everytime he did a dramatic walk off away from Stuart I was like Yay go you stop getting toyed with but then they seemingly end up together at the end and the UST is never resolved (not that we see anyway). For all the character development Stuart went through still not sure its the best or most healthy relationship or coupling but there you go, its left to the audience's interpretation what became of them after they left I suppose as well.

And the MUSIC! most of it totally dates the show firmly in late 90's along with the mobile phones and dial up internet, I even shazamed a few of the songs. Natalie Imbruglia, Texas, S Club 7 and about 3 Steps songs amongst it loved it Haha.
