Boy bands were the thing and the only act which eclipsed them during this period was BSB.

It simply made sense for them to have had such huge debuts at that time!

    They were huge!
I was waiting for Bey to drop so she could show that T&A arent the only ones smashing album SALES!!!

+ their music was pop galore.. it had that current pop sound and had more edges than BSB.

I remember that week! It was based on their lead single and remember, this was the era where boy bands were in high demand and they and BSB were the top notches. I remember even 5ive had a momentof glory on the BB charts
It was just the right time though I don't think NSA was brilliant. I'd prefer BSB Millenium far more

I guess you're right. They were more poppier in sound than BSB but I preferred BSB cause they were more mature in their sound
And the beats they were using was also the in sound used by DC with TWOTW, Kandi, Faith Evans on Best Man Soundtrack and even Mariah on X Girlfriend from her 1999 release Rainbow!

Hadn't realized their debut sold THAT many
And that's my favourite era of theirs

i find it funny that they became so huge in the US while Europe basically didn't take notice of them until... the early 2000's. It was all about BSB, probably Boyzone who took the Boyband craze which peaked first with Take That in Europe, to a whole new level. BSB were so huge already in 1996 in Europe that by the time they broke the US they were slightly out again, while NSYNC dominated the boyband world.

Musically, i think Nsync cannot touch BSB but they had some amazing tunes as well.

I thought it was the other way around? I remember seeing a documentary where they said that it was strange that in places abroad like Germany, the could not go by unrecognized and then they'd land in the US and be regular citizens? :-?
I think they were referring to the period leading up to their debut! :-?

I se this was the release history:

    Release history
    Germany May 26, 1997
    United States March 24, 1998
    United Kingdom July 5, 1998
    Canada April 13, 1999
US got it almost a year later.

yeah, i meant, that BSB were already super huge in Europe while no one here knew who NSYNC were and by the time BSB broke the US market - they were already on the way to become out in Europe while then NSync took over..

    9/7 BB200:

    http://music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watc ... 47340.html

NSYNC’s 2005 compilation Greatest Hits re-enters the chart at #117 in the wake of the boy band’s reunion on the VMA’s. We’ll see the full impact of the show on this and other albums next week.

MTV VMAs Spur Early Gains for Miley Cyrus, NSYNC, Justin Timberlake, and More
By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles | August 29, 2013

Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke and Justin Timberlake were all big winners during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), even though only Timberlake actually won any awards. Cyrus and Thicke paired for a buzzed-about performance during the Aug. 25 show, while Timberlake reunited with his bandmates in NSYNC and took home multiple trophies.

In the week ending Aug. 25, NSYNC earned a 184% rise in album sales and a 226% lift in song sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The group’s albums shifted 6,000 for the week, while its songs moved 28,000. While both numbers are small, they will likely grow next week after there’s been a week of impact after the show.
