I think you forgot the recent addition of France. Or isn't it done yet? I thought it was.

It's a good idea, it will give the discussions around this subject more continuity.

I'm not posting all gay news in here - this should just be for gay marriage issues only.

LGBT: Portuguese parliament approves right to adoption – Portugal

Portuguese parliament has approved Friday two bills that will allow gay couples to adopt children. The bill was approved with 99 votes in favor, 94 votes against, and 9 abstentions.
The bills were strongly supported by the ruling center-right Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the progressive Socialist Party (PS). The Communist Party was fully united behind the no vote.
The Portuguese parliament had approved the right to same-sex marriages in 2010, but without adoption rights. The law allows gay couples the same rights as married heterosexual couples, including taxes, inheritance and housing, but didn’t offer the right to adopt children.
Portugal is among the first 10 counties in the world to allow same-sex marriage. As recently as 1982, homosexuality was a crime in Portugal.
Today, Portugal has wide-ranging anti-discrimination laws and is one of the few countries in the world to contain a ban on discrimination based on sexual orientation in its Constitution.
The first same-sex marriages in the world took place in the Netherlands on April 1, 2001. The countries that followed were Belgium, Spain, Canada, South Africa, Norway, Sweden, Portugal, Iceland, Argentina and Brazil.
Countries where gay adoption is legal include Guam, Andorra, Belgium, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, South Africa, Spain, the United Kingdom. It is also legal in some parts of Australia, Canada, and the United States.

France makes the map way darker. <3 Germany gotta do it! Any chance in Switzerland? Unfortunately, it's not gonna happen anytime soon in Italy. :(

And it's legalized, it's no longer "soon". Technically, every gay can marry! Not in their own country, but they can though!

I don't wanna start anything...But please help me understand. Why would you want to marry another gay person? Its like two women starting a family. Are all marriages like Mitch and Cam from modern family - Where they're just rolling their eyes at each other always? There's no male principle in the equation at all. Its not...compatible.

The definition of marriage is something that changes according to the person, but at its most basic definition - it should represent a loving and legal union between two people that love each other unconditionally.

Gay people can love just like heterosexual people can; therefore, gay people want the same right to marry.

People are trying to forbid same sex marriage here in Croatia!

They call themself citizens' initiative "In the name of family", and we all now that Church and some politician partys are behind that!

They demand a referendum, they want to put definition "Marriage is only between woman and man" in Constitution!

People who signed this initiative doesn't even know what they signed for, volunteers are telling all those old people it's for family, and then they sign for, they stand in front of Church mostly, and draw people for their sleeve, so they can sign the initiative, as I said mostly people who signed it are old people who'll soon go on the other place and people who's reproductive ability ended long time ago!

People don't understand difference between the Constitution and Laws!

Family is already protected by our Constitution! And marriage is defined with our Family law, "Marriage is between woman and man", and it shouldn't be defined by Constitution cuz it's discrimination, and it puts in a worse position cohabitations too!

Their demand, their definition, doesn't even contains FAMILY word in it, it's only movement full of hate, full of misunderstanding, they want forbid gay marriage, same as adoption by gay couple...

Why did they started this we still don't know, cuz there even wasn't any initiative for legalization gay marriage, in a country where unemployment and poverty reigns! :-? And we have enough other problems, than this!
But they achieved next thing, they pushed faster some things in our society, and gay marriage will be legalized now faster than they thought!

Few days ago they announced that they have enough signatures for referendum, 380 000, but Committee referendum told them that they still miss about +/- 70 000 signatures!

So today is the last day for collecting signatures, and fingers crossed that they didn't get the right number for referendum!

In case it happens, referendum, our government and parliament will make it difficult, and our Constitutional court too!
Cuz that initiative already did so many illegal things, they didn't respect anything, they had to!

I see a lot of hate in this country unfortunately, but now they see there is a lot of us, a lot of us different!

Gasp of relief in the UK!

SUCCESS! A wrecking amendment – to kill the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill – has just been defeated in the House of Lords by 390 votes to 148.
Btw, I can't believe that an archbishop said that Oo
"The rights of a homosexual man are identical to mine. Subject to the laws on incest and bigamy, we are both free to marry a woman. Neither he nor I may marry another man. Our positions are identical."
That's definitely NOT the same situation!

I posted on Facebook; that man is not for this world, and basically should be put down

    He's an arsehole.

Great news that the House of Lords voted in favour of a second reading - it essentially means that now its been passed by the Commons and the Lords, it has the best possible chance of becoming law, and I fully believe - subject to there being no major hurdles - we will see our first wedded gay couple in the UK by mid 2014.

Its such an exciting time to be a homo in the UK! Its one of the last major legal hurdles we have to face here!

The same reason why straight peple want to marry. It's about love or legal issues - legally sharing property, health benefits from a working spouse's employer covering a non-working spouse staying home with children, death benefits etc, Can you imagine you can't marry the person you love?

I can't see Slovakia allowing gay marriage either...not in my lifetime. What some GPs has said abut LGBT people is so hurtful and no one is doing anything.

Otto Pérez Molina, president of Guatemala, says he is opposed to gay marriage, ahead of a discussion on the matter by the Organization of American States

Guatemala’s president Otto Pérez Molina said that his country is not in favor of gay marriage and abortion, two issues that will be discussed in the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).

Ahead of the OAS General Assembly taking place later today (4 June) in Antigua, Guatemala, Molina said that his country is ‘pro-life’ and will remain opposed to any treaty proposed by the organization which includes marriage equality or abortion.

‘Guatemala’s rejection of abortion and gay marriage will be made clear,’ Molina stated yesterday (3 June), reported the daily La Hora.

He also said that Guatemala will insert a footer in the OAS’s treaty stating the country is ‘pro-life’.

He also added that an OAS treaty is not binding and does not require amending national laws.

Molina’s statement followed mass protests, entitled ‘Yes to life’ yesterday by Catholic and Evangelical groups against gay marriage and abortion which says the OAS is planning to include in its discussion of a draft treaty today.

Organizers of the demonstration said they had access to the draft agenda of the OAS General Assembly that include the decriminalization of abortion and marriage between persons of the same sex, reported Prensa Libre.

Cerón de Verónica, organizer of the Yes to life campaign, said protests will continue today as the OAS General Assembly takes place.

Molina said he supported the campaign headed by the country’s Episcopal Conference and the Evangelical Alliance.
Reliigion... as usual, as always.. I'm ashamed of the comments people leave on the news outlets, saying stuff like:

"yeah, faggots, there's an epidemy of them all, we can't tolerate these evil creatures to proliferate in our God's given country, no to faggots" and stuff like that...
they forget being unfaithful is also a sin according to the bible, etc. etc...
This country has the worst society ever, people are so hypocrite... I hate it.
