I think you're having way too unreal image of Europe! We may be part of Europe, but it's only physically speaking. Many countries, just like Serbia, don't have European values when it comes to gays or such and are pretty much traditional. Like supenova1 said, it's the same on Balkan, and even Italy to some extent etc.

+1 you read my post jp on previous page?

In Croatia is the same, well it's lil better than in Serbia, we're becoming on 1st July new member of European Union, but people are still dumb and conservative, and BIG "catholics", and who knows when the things will change...

But we have 2 Prides, one is today, so we'll see how it's gonna be, 2 years ago, it was shocking to see what people done to members of Pride, it was 1st pride in our big city Split! In Zagreb we have Pride I think more than 10 years, and everything goes really well in Zg last 2 years...

You can see what happend in Split here:

"Kill the faggots" - the most usual thing you'd hear on such event.

Believe me, it's better in Croatia than here, but bad anyway. Watch the Belgrade 2001 pride.

You do remember, what happened in Split and that was one of my doubts concering Croata becoming a member of the European Union.

That said, I'm glad to read that things were just fine this year. I still don't get all the hate. I mean, one doesn't have to jump, when one's hearin' someone's gay, but seriously, just accept it and live your life. I don't care about my neighbours' religion, political values or their sex-life. People should start learnin', how to live together as a society.

Btw, I think that tolerating gays and introducing a bound which is at least similar to marrige should be a criteria to join the EU. - Still don't know, why some countries are current members....

Russia's lower house of parliament, the Duma, has passed a law imposing heavy fines for providing information about homosexuality to people under 18.

The measure was passed unanimously and will become law when approved by the upper house and President Vladimir Putin, a virtual formality.

Gay rights campaigners clashed with anti-gay activists outside the Duma.

The lower house also passed a bill imposing up to three years in jail on those who offend religious believers.

The law comes in the wake of the imprisoning of members of the punk band Pussy Riot for performing an anti-Putin protest in an Orthodox cathedral in February 2012.
Its basically the Russian equivalent to Section 28 - the Russian people that supported this are disgusting.

About 10 000 people is marching through Zagreb atm OMG

I wish I can be there too

    This is amaaaaaaaaaaaazing!

    I'll post more news later

We're demanding same rights, and equality! Cuz we're attacked with one initiative who wants to put in Constitution that marriage is only between woman + man!

They carried the signatures (710 000 sadly) for referendum yesterday to Parliament, and there was only 1000 people in their procession! And everything about that initiative is sooo suspicios, apparently Church and some political parties are behind it!
They were awful yesterday! They sanged patriotic songs, common folklore for croatian people, very fascist too

    (http://www.welt.de/newsticker/dpa_nt/in ... stand.html)

    Translation per Google:
"The blood donation ban on homosexuals should be relaxed according to the German Medical Association. The doctors want to work towards a change in representation of the EU legal framework. Whether to terminate the previously valid permanent exclusion of people with risky sexual behavior goal. According to current guidelines may about men who have sex with men, heterosexuals who frequently change sexual partners or sex workers donate blood. Which is clarified by questionnaire prior to the donation. Especially the blanket ban on gays meeting criticism for years."

Since this is the general Gay News topic, I post it here:

The KNVB, the Royal Dutch Football Association, has announced that there will be an official 'football boat' during the canal pride as part of the Amsterdam gay this year. It's the first time the KNVB associates with the Amsterda, Gay pride. On the boat will not only be a selection of Dutch football players, also Louis van Gaal (coach of the national team) will be present.

    I think this is great.

Today around 50.000 people walked to support LGBT community's protest against the government in Istanbul. People are more tolerant towards LGBTs since Gezi Park protestations.

Glad I live in the Netherlands. We have children at our school with two mothers. (Their father lives with another man.)

Also, everyone at our school knows I'm married to another man.

In 50 years time new generations will look back at wonder why so many people were against gays and gay marriage.
