The classic BBC series is being rebooted in 2014 on ITV for a brand new series, I used to love this as a kid and found Dorien hilarious. Hope the new series lives up to the originals.

I caught an old episode of this a few months ago, it really hasn't aged well.
I remember liking it when I was younger. I love the cast though, especially Lesley Joseph.

My friend saw the theater show of it recently and mentioned that they said it would be rebooted! Not sure how I feel about it, I used to love it but not sure it would appeal as much now, we'll see.

I liked it at times especially Dorien who was the star of the show, would be nice to have some more decent comedy on TV

Looking forward to the new series, but I can't help but be distracted by how old they are. It feels wrong

The first series on ITV I felt changed Dorien's character far too much (getting a job in a pound shop?) but aside from that it was light entertainment fun that kept the spirit of the original.

That said, Dorien becoming an erotic novelist using her own experiences was sheer perfection!

Yes, but old age will come to us all eventually...some sooner than others
I actually used to watch all the original series so was really glad when ITV picked this up. It's great to see Dorien again...her 'Like A Virgin ' peformance is forever etched on my brain

    7 minutes away.

Literally the best Christmas present I could've asked for.

Pretty weak first half, but loved the second half.

Favourite part was when Dorien went down the slide and finally got her man.

Thought this was pretty poor, not a patch on the old episodes.

    Bloody loved tonight's episode.

I also thought it was a believable story - Tracy always struck me as the thick sister, with Sharon being the one with all the savvy and experience. Though ultimately ending up no better off when trying to further herself (like tonight).

Bloody loved this, first episode was a bit touch and go but everything since has been typically fantastic.

I loved seeing another side to Dorien.

Loved the last series, hoping it's back for another run next year! It's harmless family friendly humour, so I'm surprised at its time slot.

Birds of a Feather will return for a Christmas special on ITV

The Birds will be back in a feature-length episode.

Birds of a Feather will be returning for its third Christmas special since the ITV show was revived in 2014.

Star Linda Robson, who plays Tracey Stubbs on the show, revealed the news on today's Loose Women (September 1), on which she is a regular panellist.

"Chigwell's favourite trio will be back on ITV later this year with a feature length one off Christmas special," ITV confirmed.

"Pauline Quirke, Linda Robson and Lesley Joseph reprise their roles as Sharon, Tracey and Dorien in a new adventure for the ladies."

We don't know much yet about the special, apart from the fact that all three of the leading ladies will be returning.

2016's Christmas episode saw the trio fly to Morocco to find Tracey's son, but this year the Birds are expected to be staying in Essex.

While there was no set of regular episodes this year due to conflicts in schedule for the main cast, new episodes are expected to air on ITV in 2018.

The show originally aired on BBC One, and was off-air for sixteen years between 1998 and 2014 before being revived for a full series on ITV.

Its sucessful reboot led to the show also returning in 2015 and 2016.

Filming on 2017's Christmas special will begin in October, with Robson promising that the script is "really good".

I think I missed last year’s Christmas special, or was that the one where they sent up Casablanca?

Either way, I do enjoy this. It’s old fashioned comedy where you see the punch line coming a mile off before it arrives, but that’s half the fun. It’s a harmless show with a bit of wit.

They should do a post watershed special one day though - I wanna
know what they really say to each other
