Oh ok didn't know you could do that!! That's a good way to hide a flop not calling 'TLC' a flop or anything.

    Ouch at TLC #41....

And maybe Jay-Z flopped and decided to not submit his streams from TIDAL. In UK his album debuted at #32 on the Streaming Albums Chart meaning he submitted data outside US.

    CHART STORY: KHALED STILL KING

DJ Khaled’s Grateful (We the Best/Epic) remains #1 on the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart this week with approximately 68k. Columbia’s Calvin Harris follows at #2, as Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1—another star-studded set—scores the highest debut with 63k.

Showcasing impressive stamina, Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. (TDE/Interscope) continues to rack up huge streams, holding at #3 with 56k, while the also-dependable Ed Sheeran breaks back into the Top 5 with 36k for Atlantic set Divide.

As for the other noteworthy debuts, Stone Sour’s Hydrograd (Roadrunner) bows at #6 with 33k, while Columbia’s soundtrack to Baby Driver, which is being widely praised for its use of music, makes its entrance at #25. On a related note, we at HITS remain stoned and sour.

Shawn Mendes’ Illuminate (Island) makes one of this week’s more noteworthy moves, jumping #29-20. Single “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” was put on sale for 69-cents on iTunes, where it’s currently sitting at #4. The hit is also about to climb into the Top 10 at Pop radio.

When it comes to the SPS marketshare battle, UMG is #1 with 49% and SME is #2 with 31%, while WMG follows with 19%.

Streeting this week are new albums from Columbia’s HAIM and Slaughter Gang/Epic’s 21 Savage, as well as the wide-release of Jay-Z’s 4:44 (Roc Nation), which actually dropped last week, but as a Tidal exclusive.

    NEW RELEASES: JAY IS SMOKIN'

Since the first week after a Tidal exclusive will count as its debut, here's how it's looking for Jay-Z's new 4:44 as it goes wide, and a couple of other new releases.

    Jay-Z (Roc Nation/Def Jam) 250-275k SPS, 150-175k album
    21 Savage (Slaughter Gang/Epic) 50-60k, 10-15k
    HAIM (Columbia) 26-31k, 23-28k

4:44 is parked at #1 on the iTunes album chart at present, followed by HAIM and 21 Savage. Jay also has the top album and seven of the Top 10 tracks at Apple Music, and both the #1 CD and the #1 download on Amazon. As we previously noted, the set isn't currently available on Spotify.

More sales, less stream points. I'm ok with that. He's doing good for an album released with basically zero promo.

Now it makes sense Tidal didn't release streams from last week. They obviously weren't big.

I can't at these sales. So i guess the summer will always be a period when R&B/Rap albums will dominate the charts due to the SPS numbers...

CHART STORY: HOVA REACHES NEW HEIGHTS

Following a one-week Tidal exclusive, Jay-Z’s 4:44 became available to purchase, as well as stream at most major DSPs—with the exception of Spotify, whose free tier took them out of the game. That said, the Roc Nation set has gone #1 on HITS’ Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart, moving 278k units this week. And the same day as twins Sir and Rumi Carter are introduced to the world? Looks like the revered rapper—who this year became the first to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame—has plenty of reasons to be up all night night now.

Slaughter Gang/Epic newcomer 21 Savage celebrates an impressive 74k bow for his debut studio album, Issa Album.

Columbia’s HAIM scores the week’s other biggest debut with approximately 32k for the sisters’ highly anticipated sophomore set, Something to Tell You, which appears at #6. Interestingly, Something is #2 on the Album Sales Chart and Issa is #3, showcasing that hip-hop music is dominant when it comes to streaming, while alternative music proves to be more sales-oriented. To further underscore the first part of that point, eight tracks from Jay-Z’s 4:44 land on the Top 50 Streamed Songs Chart this week, with “The Story of O.J.” being the biggest, coming in at #2. Six tracks from Issa also made that chart, the biggest being “Bank Account,” which enters at #7.

Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. (TDE/Interscope), which is at the center of many Album of the Year Grammy conversations, remains formidable, holding at #3 with just over 49k.

Powered in large part by recent ticket redemptions, Katy Perry’s Witness (Capitol) leaps #45-16, up over 80%. Witness’ bounce is of course more pronounced when it comes to album sales alone. On that chart, the set moves #39-4, up nearly 250%.

Shawn Mendes’ Illuminate (Island) begins to climb back toward the Top 15. Single “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back,” which has been selling like hotcakes, was priced at 69 cents at iTunes, where it was holding in the Top 5 at press time. That one’s also about to go Top 5 at Pop radio.

The Hollywood soundtrack to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 re-enters at #40, as the movie prepares to be released on digital (8/8) and Blu-ray (8/22). Predecessor Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 simultaneously jumps #44-31.

When it comes to the SPS marketshare battle, UMG is #1 with 62%, SME has 28% and WMG takes 9%, while the indies come out with 1%.

Streeting this week is an album from Bad Boy/Epic’s French Montana, along with EPs from Parlophone’s Coldplay and RCA’s Kirstin—the sole female member of RCA’s multi-platinum and Grammy-winning a cappella group, Pentatonix.

    NEW RELEASES: PARDON OUR FRENCH

Look for Jay-Z to repeat at #1 next week with his Roc Nation set 4:44. Meanwhile, according to early reads, French Montana appears to be on track for a Top 3 debut.

French Montana (Bad Boy/Epic) 45-50k SPS, 13-18k album

Watch this space for numbers on other new releases. Montana just dropped the video for "A Lie" featuring The Weeknd and Max B, which you can view below.
