According to the press release:

Kylie will release “I Was Gonna Cancel” on 12th May, the second single to be taken from her recent album “Kiss Me Once” which charted at number two.

The new single was written and produced by Pharrell Williams in the US last year. Kylie has recently discussed in interviews that the song came about because she really was going to cancel - she was having a bad day and wasn’t going to go to the studio, but after arriving and shedding a few tears in front of Pharrell, he was inspired to write the highly acclaimed track.

I think there are more with that classic Kylie sound. This just isn't her style, it sounds so wrong for her voice and I think people are seriously overestimating that Pharrells influence will make this a hit.

No one said it's gonna slay because GP's gonna check producers and see it's pharrell, it's because song is fresh and funky/disco, sounds a lot like recent hits and it's the best possible choice for single

i don't see what else she can release from album, nothing stands out like this and sexercize

I think it's an obvious single choice and it's a positive thing it doesn't have that ordinary Kylie sound, as recent years have shown, going down the safe route doesn't work for her anymore. I say bring it on and see how it turns out.

Was surprised when I heard was the second single! What happened to Sexercise? This just screams filler album track, it's only getting a release because it's got the Pharrell connection.

"Into The Blue" was the classic Kylie sound and it wasn't the smash they hoped for! "I Was Gonna Cancel" is a solid single choice as it's catchy, fits the sound of now and it's what she needs to tempt people to buy the album. I don't suddenly think this is heading for the top 10 but if it can get decent airplay it could do alright.
