And for those of you worried that Blige’s burgeoning acting career might take her away from her time in the studio, we’ve got some very good news. She’s also set to release her fourteenth studio album, called My Life II... There's Something About Me, My Self & MaryJane (Act 2), sometime later this year. Her last album, 2017’s Strength of a Woman, featured guest appearances by Quavo, DJ Khaled, and Missy Elliott, to go along with Blige’s towering vocals. Details about the follow-up have so far been scarce, but if her birthday Instagrams are any indication, Blige already has this year on absolute lock.

I feel I kinda disconnected with her after The Breakthrough, haven't give proper listen to her later efforts but don't feel like doing that... I will eventually.

Act 1 is definitely her best effort out of her 2010's albums and in general. There are so many gems on it!

The title is horrendous, but it's nice to see an artist actually following up a 'part 1' album with the follow up for once.

Mary's albums this decade have all had their set of decent songs, but also their fair share of filler. After this project I hope she gives us an EP with 5 or 6 great songs and a couple of interludes to connect the tracks.

Yeah I respect everyone's opinion but to say she's a "singles artist" sounds crazy and like people simply haven't listened to her discography extensively.

Her first 2 albums are 2 of the best R&B albums of the last 30 years.

Peak Mary stopped after the Growing Pains album, I've been less and less interested in her output since, but I keep willing her to get back to greatness, because she's one of my favourites.
